Value-Added Engineering
NWS possesses unique knowledge in the design of high capacity
systems for the delivery of video and data information.
The accumulated knowledge of every project NWS has worked
on since 1984 is refined and transferred into your project,
thereby increasing the total value of your system beyond
the price of its components.
Our
commitment to testing offers a good example. When building
a client's head end, NWS quality assurance and testing practices
incorporate rigorous test procedures:
- Spectrum
Analyzers are used for signal level, 2nd and 3rd harmonic
and spurious emission content, carrier to noise ratio,
head end system tilt and balance measurements. The spectrum
analyzer is also used for aural carrier deviation, EMI
(electromagnetic interference), and ingress measurements.
-
Strength Meters are used for detecting system levels/balance/tilt
at either the head end or at the final cable drop to achieve
proper signal level. System levels reaching the end drop
will be within 0 to +10 dBmv and have a carrier to noise
level greater than 48dB, and conform to CATV standards
set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations.
- Calibrated
Precision Demodulator is used for demodulation of the
CATV video signals, calibrated to NIST traceable standards.
- Waveform
Monitors and Vectorscopes are used for measuring the quality
of the video demodulated by the precision demodulator.
By performing
these tests on all NWS integrated head ends, NWS ensures superior
picture quality and data transfer rates.
